SEASIDE
While the many attractions of the Polish Baltic coast might seem appealing primarily to fans of sunbathing, windsurfing and fishing, tourists interested in architecture, golf and even folklore have a lot to choose from as well. You just need to know where to plan your vacations.

Polish seaside resorts boast wide, sandy beaches, long promenades, quaint lighthouses and dozens of fish eateries. Some towns have piers as the main attraction.. You can also choose from a large selection of boat cruises along the coastline. Some cities have regular ferry connections with ports in Denmark, Norway and Sweden, so you can plan day trips to Scandinavia.

The most characteristic features of Poland’s seaside landscape include shifting sand dunes, evergreen plants and dense forests. Although Poland has a moderate climate, heat waves occur every summer. The Polish coast has plenty of beaches with fine, whitish sand. The sea is not turquoise, unfortunately, its color changes significantly depending on the weather. Near the shore the water is usually shallow; the depth increases gradually. Bathing beaches in seaside towns are marked with buoys and most are supervised by lifeguards. These days, you can rent sun chairs and umbrellas on almost every beach. With wind blowing almost constantly, the Baltic coast is a haven for lovers of sailing and windsurfing. The best bet is the Bay of Puck.

When it comes to food, the region naturally specializes in all varieties of fish, including the most tasty ones: flounder, salmon, cod and trout. Promenades are lined with bars, cafés, restaurants and pubs which serve Polish and international cuisine, Mediterranean in particular. Fans of kebab and fast food also have a lot to choose from.

Due to unstable weather, vacations on the Baltic coast do not always guarantee standard beach experience. Luckily, tourists can enjoy other kinds of attractions at the seaside, most frequently amusement parks, aquaparks, arcades, casinos, stud farms, golf courses, tennis courts or simply merchandise stalls and souvenir stores.
