MOUNTAINS
On the Southern border with Slovakia the Tatra mountains tower above the planes. The Tatra Mountains have already become famous – especially its main resort Zakopane, which bustles with holiday-makers. If you appreciate amazingly scenic rocky peaks, dales and lochs, go for the mountains. Should you prefer to explore the less developed, travel to Beskid and explore the wilderness of Bieszczady.
 
The Tatra mountains are the only mountains in Poland in alpine character. They situated in Carpathian Range, in the hearth of Europe. In the comparison with the largest mountains of the world, Tatra Mts. are a little range - with regard to their area and their altitude and length as well. The highest Tatra peak in Poland is Rysy is 2499 metres a.s.l. high and beyond the Tatras - Babia Góra in Beskidy Mts. - 1725 m.
